CRTIMAG field areas in North America include two continental arc volcanoes:

  • Mount St Helens is located in WA, USA and is part of the Cascade range of volcanoes that formed via the subduction of the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate beneath the North American Plate
  • Colima, Mexico, is situated in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt; volcanism here is a result of the subduction of the Rivera and Cocos plates beneath the North American Plate
